OLIO EXTRAVERGINE DI OLIVA
Welcome to
Olio Extravergine di Oliva

Olive Oil, a true delicacy. Olive oil is the perfect and finishing touch to a fresh salad, a wonderful pasta, or grilled meat and fish dish, providing not only an extra burst of flavour, but also many health benefits.
Il Magno - Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva is the wonderful olive oil from the sunny northern part of Tuscany that will surprise you in many ways. Its fine, yet spicy flavor, its light green-golden colour, and the fragrance of the olive groves in summer are like having an Italian holiday in a bottle from the first drop.
Extra-virgin, meaning this oil is from the first cold pressing, promises outstanding quality with Il Magno - Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva.
Our olive oil is not available in retail outlets. We primarily serve private customers in Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and France. We make Il Magno - Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva only from olives that we harvest here in Montemagno (Camaiore). Fluctuating harvests mean that the amount we produce each year can vary.
Give Il Magno a try. You’re going to fall in love.
Production
THE BIRTH OF PURE PLEASURE
A grove of more than 500 olive trees, most over a century old, provides the olives that go into il Magno - Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva. The sun-drenched slopes and robust, sandy soil rich in limestone
and not full of stones allows the trees to flourish here. Their slightly silvery, greyish-green leaves and gnarled trunks have a beauty
and charm all their own. Our trees are giving plenty of room to
grow (Ø 7-8 metres per tree), so that they can spread their leaves freely and receive adequate sunlight.
Regular professional pruning and the use of natural fertilisers ensure healthy growth.
Olives are harvested from the tree and only remain a few hours on the nets set out to catch them as the trees are shaken. They hit the presses within 24 hours.
The olives grow in Montemagno near Camaiore in the province of Lucca. Montemagno lies on the famous Via Francigena, the primary pilgrimage route in the Middle Ages from Canterbury to Rome.

THE PROMISE
Il Magno - Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva is made only from olives grown in our grove. We don’t buy olives from other producers or create blends. An early harvest, by mid-November at the latest, even if it means giving up a higher yield, results in a fruity, nutty flavour that lasts and does not lose its characteristic “sapore” even after many months.
Professional pressing and bottling in a certified olive press, the Frantoio di Massarosa meets all Italian and EU food regulations.
